a fall story to read and retell - in the forest

One of our favourite fall books to read is The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.

It is a Halloween classic.

This year, we told the story with a twist.

The story starts with the little old lady (who was not afraid of anything) in the woods, far from home.

Well, we are brave, and we have a forest.  So, off we went to the forest to see what adventure was waiting for us.

As luck would have it, as we were walking through the forest, we came up an old pair of shoes.

A pair of shoes that went clomp clomp.

Just as the little old lady did, we carried on down the path.  Until we came upon a pair of pants.

Those pants went wiggle wiggle.

Just past the pants, the kids found a shirt.

A shirt that went shake shake.

A tall black hat and two (blue) gloves were sitting on a rock.

And the pumpkin, that big, orange scary face, it was hiding behind a tree.  And shouting Boo! Boo!

Luckily the kids knew just what to do with the wardrobe contents and pumpkin face they found in the forest.

They made a scarecrow, to chase all the ghouls and goblins away.
